President and Co-founder of Medidata Solutions Will Give Fall 2017 Health Transformation Lecture “The most used medical device in the world”

On Nov. 14, 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the UNCW Burney Center Ballroom, President and Co-founder of Medidata Solutions, Glen de Vries will give the fall 2017 Health Transformation Lecture, “The most used medical device in the world.” The lecture is sponsored by the UNCW College of Health and Human Services, Southeastern Area Health Education Center, Brunswick Community College, Cape Fear Community College and The North Carolina Biotechnology Center.

Medidata is the leading cloud platform for life sciences research. Their mission, which Glen has been driving since the company’s inception in 1999, is to power smarter treatments and healthier people.

Glen’s lecture will delve into the topic of how technology and big data are often referred to as "the future of healthcare," and will ask the question: how will they change it? He will explore how patients benefit from more precise medicine (both interventional therapies and preventative care) thanks to digitization and data, and how traditional research will move to broader, more patient-centric approaches.

The event is free and open to the public. The one-hour lecture followed by 30 minutes of Q&A.
