Social Work Director Appointed to NC Marriage and Family Therapy Licensing Board

School of Social Work Director Stacey Kolomer was recently appointed to the NC Marriage and Family Therapy Licensing Board (NCMFTLB).

The NCMFTLB was created to protect the people of North Carolina from the practice of marriage and family therapy by unprofessional, unauthorized and unqualified individuals.

The Board is responsible for the review of qualifications and examination of all applicants for licensure. Four board members are practicing marriage and family therapists, who are licensed in the state. Three other members are representatives of the general public, who do not have any direct affiliation with the practice of marriage and family therapy. Kolomer will be one of the representatives of the general public.

Kolomer was nominated by the CHHS Advancement Council Chair and social worker Louise Coggins and appointed by the governor. Her appointment will last until the year 2022.

“I feel fortunate to be given the opportunity to serve the state of NC in this role,” Kolomer said.
