Dean’s Welcome

November is a busy month within the CHHS. The semester is in full swing, and we are moving toward the holidays. The fall 2017 Staff and Faculty Meeting was a great success. Thanks to all who attended. I believe this meeting demonstrated that our CHHS Strategic Plan is indeed a living document (click here for photos). In addition, the Health Transformation Lecture Series events were a huge success (click here for photos). It was an honor to host Mr. Glen de Vries, president and co-founder of Medidata. His lecture was outstanding and his interaction with faculty, staff, students and community members was impactful. Finally, congratulations to Jade Apostolico (School of Social Work) and Anna Grauel (School of Nursing) for being selected to receive scholarships from the Greater Wilmington Business Journal. The scholarships were presented at the annual Healthcare Heroes celebration on November 11.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is an opportunity for all of us to pause and remember just how fortunate we are. We have been very blessed to have the opportunity to devote our professional careers to help others live healthier, more prosperous and more productive lives.

I want to thank all the faculty and staff of the CHHS for what you do, day in and day out, to achieve this vision. Moreover, I want to thank you for your concern for others – your compassion for our students, our community and for each other is in a word, incredible. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

CHHSTalk is a stakeholder communication tool. The purpose is to communicate about the many things going on within CHHS to remind us to remember why we do what we do. That is to say, this e-newsletter is CHHS being its best self! It is our hope that you find “joy” while reading the CHHSTalk. Please send your feedback and future story ideas to hardyc@uncw.edu.

Cheers,
Charlie
