School of Nursing and New Hanover Regional Medical Center Hosts Research Day

On November 17, Nu Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing hosted, in conjunction with the School of Nursing and New Hanover Regional Medical Center, the 25th Annual Research Day.

The event included podium and poster presentations communicating performance improvement, evidence-based and research projects completed by local and regional professional nurses, nursing faculty, and both undergraduate and graduate nursing students.

Research Day provides students, faculty and professional nurses an opportunity to engage with one another and learn from the various projects. Knowledge was gained about the processes of the different projects, ways to enhance their current or future professional nursing practice and the important role of the professional nurse to participate in such projects. In addition, student presenters gained experience in preparing a professional presentation and presenting their work.

“Research Day was a success,” School of Nursing Associate Professor, April Matthias said. “The presentations were innovative and informative. Our nursing students demonstrated professionalism both in their excellent presentations and active participation as attendees.”
