International Student Orientation

Fall 2018 Orientation

The International Student Orientation will be held on Friday, August 17 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Amphitheater and Saturday, August 18 from 9 am to 2 pm at Cameron Hall, room 105. Orientation is mandatory for all students on UNCW's visa sponsorship (excluding IMBA students). Please bring your passport and DS-2019 (J-1 students) or I-20 form (F-1 students). 

During orientation we will review visa regulations, health and safety concerns, cultural adaptation, expectations about academic life and introduce you to life in Wilmington! For exchange students, please make sure to review the international exchange academic calendar HERE

Wednesday, August 15 & Thursday, August 16

Airport Pick- up - All day

UNCW residence halls will open on Wednesday, August 15 at 4pm. Airport pick-up will be available for all students on Wednesday, August 15 and Thursday, August 16

  • Recommended arrival date for TABSA & F-1 visa transfer students is Wednesday, August 15.
  • Recommended arrival date for J-1 exchange students & F-1 first-year degree-seeking students is Thursday, August 16.
  • Recommended arrival date for graduate students (excluding IMBA/IBSA) is Thursday, August 16, unless the specific graduate department is requesting an earlier arrival.

Friday, August 17 (Optional)

International Student Orientation Fair - 1-4 pm

Students will be introduced to a number of resources such as

  • Campus Dining
  • OneCard
  • Student Health Center
  • University Learning Center
  • Student Accounts
  • Transportation options
  • Banking options 
  • Phone providers

Students will have the opportunity to meet fellow international students who will share about their experience as Global Seahawks.

A student-led campus tour will follow. International students will get a feel for our campus and facilities, while discussing the University with current student mentors.

Schedule and location to be determined.

Welcome Dinner - 6 pm (Optional)

ISSS will host a welcome dinner for all our international students and mentors at Islands Mex & Grill (Racine). The restaurant is located at walking distant from campus.
