Join the UNCW LGBTQIA+ Resource Office for an evening with International Grand Slam Champion (Brave New Voices Champion, 2011, The College Union Poetry Slam Invitational, 2016), Leeway Transformation Award Recipient (2017), Poetry Editor (Apiary Magazine and The Philly Pigeon), and celebrated activist and educator, Kai Davis.

"In 2016 she received her Bachelors in both African American Studies and English. Between 2012 and 2016 Kai Davis was the Artistic Director of The Babel Poetry Collective. She has performed for TEDX Philly, CNN, BET, PBS, and NPR, among others". Now, in addition to performing her original work, Kai dedicates herself to "teaching poetry to marginalized and under-served young" folx. "When she is not in Philly, she tours colleges and universities across the country, performing her original work and facilitating writing workshops."

As a queer woman of color, much of her work centers around "topics of race, gender, power, and sexuality with its multiple layers". Kai aims to explore how these intersecting identities "affect who we are, who we will become, and how we love".
