Join us for a night of Family Fun & Science!

UNCW MarineQuest Family Night is a free event for you and your family to explore the wonders of marine science. This event is geared towards participants 7-years-old and up.

Sessions:

  • February 8, 2018: Explore the Deep Sea
    Gets hands-on exposure to state-of-the-art technology that is allowing marine scientists to make new and exciting discoveries in the deep sea! Families will get to test out a real research Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), use ROVs to complete a mission, and study the phenomenon of ocean gigantism (why deep sea creatures are giant). This evening's activities will also include a special ROV expert guest speaker, relevant activities, and crafts. Dive into marine technology at our first Family Night of the year!
  • March 22, 2018: Citizen Science Night
    Learn how to do contribute to meaningful marine science research in your own backyard! At this event, you will gain the skills and experience necessary to become a true citizen scientist. Ongoing projects that you will be introduced to include: Phytoplankton Monitoring Network, Oyster Spat Monitoring, living shorelines research, and a host of other local initiatives. Leave with a list of projects that you can continue to explore with your family!

Programs will continue in Fall 2018.
