UNCW Military Collaboration

"UNCW was founded in 1947 as a way to help returning GSs. More than 75 percent of our enrollment back then were GIs who served in WWII. Helping the military with its educational needs is in our DNA." Mr. Bill Kawczynski

In staying true to this call, UNCW established a presence at Coastal Carolina Community College and Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune dating back to 1995. The Office of Military Affairs, established by the UNCW Board of Trustees and UNCW Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli in March of 2016, has pushed ahead over the last year and a half to grow current and establish new partnerships.

US Chamber of Commerce, Hiring our Heros

UNCW is a proud corporate partner of the US Chamber of commerce's Hiring Our Hero's Program. Through the Veteran Employment Advisory Council (VEAC) and the Military Spouse Employment Advisory Council (MESAC), we are able to share best practices in supporting and employing student veterans and spouses from a non-profit, academic perspective.

In Gear Career

Before the start of the Fall 2017 semester, UNCW launched the first university based chapter of In Gear Career, on August 14th. The mission of the chapter is empowering and employing military spouse students.

UNCW OMA and PsychArmour

PsychArmor bridges the civilian-military divide by ensuring that every American has the tools and resources needed to engage effectively with service members and veterans. They recruit nationally recognized subject matter experts to create and deliver online courses about issues relevant to the military and veteran communities. Self-paced courses are delivered within six schools geared toward military culture, healthcare providers, employers, educators, volunteers, caregivers, and families. UNCW established a partnership with PsychArmor in January of 2017.

PsychArmor provides critical resources to all Americans who work with, live with, and care about veterans.
