The award recognizes exceptional faculty leadership that advances UNCW’s mission through mentorship, service, collaboration, and positive impact on colleagues and the academic community.
Eligibility Requirements
Full time faculty (EHRA Faculty), department chairs, and school directors (EHRA Non-Faculty), who have completed at least five years at UNCW.
Criteria for Nomination & Selection
Nominees should demonstrate sustained and meaningful leadership influence, with evidence of positive impact extending beyond individual accomplishments. Leadership is understood as service oriented, collaborative, and grounded in care for the success of others and the University as a whole, rather than positional authority alone. Relevant criteria include, but are not limited to:
Mentorship of faculty, including support of early career, midcareer, or transitioning colleagues
Fostering collaboration among faculty, staff, and administration across departments, colleges, or units
Service to the University that contributes meaningfully to institutional effectiveness and academic culture
Leadership in shared governance, including committee work, faculty bodies, or institutional initiatives
Program development and coordination
Promotion of collegiality, inclusion, and trust, demonstrated through meaningful positive impact on colleagues, professional growth, morale, and collective success
