The University of North Carolina Wilmington has selected David Glew to serve as interim dean of the Cameron School of Business, effective July 1. Glew succeeds David Mautz, former chair of the Department of Accountancy and Business Law, who served as interim dean for the 2025–26 academic year.

Glew, a familiar and trusted leader within the Cameron School community, has served as associate dean of undergraduate programs since 2015. In this role, Glew led undergraduate program initiatives, supported curriculum innovation and spearheaded efforts to advance the school’s academic experience.

A longtime Seahawk faculty member, Glew joined UNCW in 2003 after teaching for five years at the University of Tulsa. From 2011 to 2015, he served as chair of the Department of Management, helping guide the department’s growth and supporting faculty development.

“Dave has been a valued colleague and collaborator for many years, and I’ve seen firsthand his thoughtful approach to leadership and genuine commitment to students and faculty,” said Provost Robert T. Burrus Jr., former dean of the Cameron School of Business. “He excels at supporting and sustaining strong connections, which is critical as the Cameron School continues to grow.”

Burrus also thanked Mautz for stepping up to helm the school for the past year. His calm, steady leadership positioned the Cameron School to continue thriving during a time of transition.

Glew earned his bachelor’s degree in human resources and his master’s in organizational behavior from Brigham Young University and completed his doctoral degree in management at Texas A&M University.

Glew’s work as an educator and scholar centers on pedagogy, personal values and organizations. His research has been published in academic and practitioner journals, and his teaching has earned recognition at multiple institutions. At UNCW, he received the MBA Excellence in Teaching Award in 2020 and the UNCW Excellence in Online Education Award in 2026.

He teaches courses in management, negotiation and organizational behavior at both the undergraduate and MBA levels, and he is known for his engaging, student-focused approach. Glew is also an MBTI Certified Practitioner, a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach and certified in the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI).
“I’m honored to step into this role and continue working alongside the incredible students, faculty and staff of the Cameron School,” Glew said. “There’s a strong foundation here, and I’m excited to help build on it as we move forward together.”

The Cameron School of Business is home to more than 150 faculty and staff and provides academic instruction to more than 4,000 students. Cameron is recognized for its commitment to excellence in teaching, research and community engagement, preparing students to lead in a dynamic global business environment.
