UNCW Faculty to Join Community Summit on AI

As artificial intelligence reshapes how people learn, work and connect, UNCW faculty will join a community conversation about the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Kevin Craig, assistant professor of information systems; Julian R. Keith, professor of psychology; and Arthur Hughes, lecturer in supply chain management, will participate in NC Project LEAD’s National Community Socioeconomic Development Summit on Friday, Oct. 2, at Hotel Ballast in downtown Wilmington. Karl Ricanek Jr., professor of computer science, will also be recognized as the 2026 National Educator and Entrepreneur of the Year during the summit’s Owen Metts Changemakers Awards Luncheon.

The summit, themed “The AI Divide: Are We Prepared for the Future?,” will explore how AI is changing education, health care and business, with particular attention to its impact on diverse communities. UNCW participants will contribute perspectives on human identity and value creation, cognitive science, higher education, supply chain and career readiness.

Their involvement brings university expertise into a broader conversation about the opportunities and challenges emerging technology presents for the region.
