John F. Brennan

John spent the first part of his career in non-teaching positions as a researcher, program evaluator, program manager and consultant in various professional settings in the public, nonprofit, and for profit sectors.
John has taught at the college and university level for over thirty years. His teaching responsibilities include research methods, policy analysis, and other courses in public administration, information systems, and government--at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has taught over thirty different college level courses over the course of his career in geography, urban studies, public administration, planning and political science.
His research interests include local and regional economic development, the nonprofit relationship to local and regional economic development, and the practical and theoretical history of American public administration, broadly defined. His research has been published in Administration & Society, the American Review of Public Administration, Economic Development Quarterly, the Journal of the American Planning Association, Nonprofit Policy Forum, Public Administration Quarterly, Public Voices, Urban Geography, and Urban Studies. He is currently working on book for the University Press of Kansas that deals with the influence of philosophical pragmatism on the development of American Public Administration during the first half of the 20th century and is making progress on redefining our understanding of segregational mapping and its impact on cities in the United States during the 20th century.
