Shelby is currently serving as a Next Step Advisor with Advise NC at UNCW, where she serves students in the Career Readiness Academy at Mosley where she helps expand access to postsecondary education through college and career planning. Prior to joining Advise NC, she worked as an elementary school teacher, where she developed a strong foundation in supporting students' academic and personal growth.
Shelby is passionate about increasing college access, promoting educational equity, and empowering students to pursue opportunities that align with their goals. Having grown up overseas, she brings a global perspective that shapes how she advocates for students and allows her to connect with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. She believes every student deserves access to the resources, guidance, and encouragement needed to make informed decisions about their future, and she strives to create a supportive environment where students feel confident exploring their educational and career pathways.
