Regina Felix

Professor

Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, I hold a Ph.D. in Brazilian Literature (with minors in Women's Studies and Postcolonial Theory) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor's degree with a triple major in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo. Across decades of university teaching, I have served on the faculties of the University of Illinois, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Georgia before joining UNCW. As a Professor of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies, I guide students through the rich language, culture, film, literature, music, and current events of the Portuguese-speaking world. Beyond the classroom, I am the author of a book on 19th-century Brazilian women writers and co-author of a volume on cultural exchanges between Brazil and France across the centuries. My international presentations and publications examine Brazilian literature and cinema through feminist, Indigenous, and philosophical frameworks.
