Taniesha M. Young

Taniesha Young (she/her) is the Assistant Director of Transition Initiatives in the Center for Academic Advising at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. In this role, she supports initiatives focused on helping students successfully transition to and navigate the university experience. Her work includes orientation and advising initiatives, group advising, serving as the coordinator of the First-Year Spring Admit Program, managing a team of professional advisors, and maintaining an academic advising caseload.

A proud member of the UNCW community since 2011, Taniesha brings more than a decade of experience in higher education, student support, enrollment management, and student engagement to her role. She is a double alumna of UNCW and began her career in higher education in 2015. Before joining the Center for Academic Advising, Taniesha served in the UNCW Office of Undergraduate Admissions as a First-Year Admissions Coordinator and Assistant Director of First-Year Admissions. In these roles, she supported prospective students and families throughout the college search and enrollment process. Her experience included student recruitment and counseling, application review, recruitment programming, staff supervision, and collaboration with campus partners to support student enrollment and success.

Taniesha is passionate about creating meaningful student experiences and helping students feel informed, supported, and connected throughout their academic journey. She is committed to a student-centered approach that empowers students to advocate for themselves, make informed decisions, and build a strong foundation for their success.
