Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement (SCLA)

SCLA Honor Society invitations are extended to students who meet established academic eligibility standards.

  • A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 for undergraduate and 3.4 for graduate students.
  • Completion of at least 12 undergraduate credit hours or 9 graduate credit hours.
  • Good academic standing.

Eligible students are identified using these academic benchmarks and invited to consider membership. Receiving an invitation does not obligate a student to join.

SCLA Honor Society membership recognizes academic accomplishment while providing additional resources to help students strengthen their leadership, professional and career-readiness skills alongside the opportunities available at UNCW.

Member benefits include:

  • A flexible, self-paced platform that allows students to engage with resources around their academic and personal schedules.
  • Mentoring and networking with peers, alumni and professionals who can provide connections, guidance and support.
  • AI-powered career readiness tools and certifications from respected industry partners to help students build practical skills and strengthen job readiness.
  • Exclusive opportunities including micro-internships, scholarships and letters of recommendation.
  • Opportunities to earn college credit at no additional cost by completing specific eligible programs, helping students turn completed work into recognized academic progress.
  • National recognition of academic achievement and opportunities to identify SCLA membership on resumes, professional profiles and graduate school applications.

If you receive an invitation to join the SCLA Honor Society:

  1. Open your SCLA invitation email.
  2. Select the acceptance link and enter your invitation code.
  3. Complete the registration form and pay the one-time $95 membership fee.

Through SCLA Academy, students can access supplemental offerings that complement existing UNCW services and help them:

  • Explore potential career pathways and interests
  • Build and strengthen resumes and other professional materials
  • Practice interviewing and professional communication
  • Develop leadership and workplace skills
  • Build career-readiness competencies
  • Access academic and professional-development learning resources
  • Prepare more intentionally for internships, graduate school and employment

Available features may include Career Path Finder, Resume Builder, interview preparation and other career-readiness learning experiences offered through the SCLA platform.

Any UNCW student may subscribe to SCLA Academy. Participation is separate from Honor Society membership, and students do not need to meet Honor Society eligibility requirements to participate.

This distinction allows SCLA at UNCW to serve two complementary purposes: recognizing the achievement of students who meet established eligibility criteria, while also expanding access to academic preparation, career-readiness and professional development opportunities for all UNCW students.
