UNCW Theatre Presents Six Characters in Search of an Author

Six Characters in Search of an Author is an absurdist classic written in 1921 by Italian playwright, Luigi Pirandello.  The piece begins normal enough with an ensemble of actors, a director and stage manager in the midst of rehearsing a play when six unknown people wander onto the stage.  The director is furious and demands an explanation and thus the play is on its way.  The play was not received well when first performed due to its illogical and absurdist content, but is now considered to be a classic in the world theatrical canon.

Six Characters in Search of an Author will run at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. April 4-7 and 11-14 on the Mainstage Theatre in the UNCW Cultural Arts Building. Tickets are $15 for members of the general public, $12 for seniors, UNCW employees, and alum, and $6 for students (sales tax included.) They are available at the Kenan Box Office on campus by calling 910.962.3500 or online at https://uncw.edu/arts/tickets.html. Tickets can also be bought in person an hour before the show on show dates.
