After You're Admitted

Next Steps for First-Year Students

Access your UNCW Applicant Portal to review your enrollment checklist and upcoming deadlines.

  • Pay your $100 enrollment deposit by the extended deadline of May 15. This secures your spot in our Fall First-Year class. Once you have submitted your enrollment deposit, you will have access to apply for on-campus housing and register for Orientation.
  • Apply for on-campus Housing by the extended deadline of May 20. First-Year students admitted in the fall semester are required to live in on-campus housing for your first and second academic years, unless you meet one of the exceptions. Allow 3-5 days after paying your enrollment deposit to apply for on-campus housing.
  • Register for your required Orientation by the extended deadline of June 5.
  • Send your Official Final High School Transcript and any Official Records of Advanced Credit (AP, CLEP, IB, all other Credit by Examination, or all Official College Transcripts) by July 15

Within myUNCW, students can also access their UNCW e-mail, calendar, and read about campus news and events. If you have trouble logging in or using the tools in myUNCW, contact the Technology Assistance Center (TAC).

In addition to completing the enrollment steps above:

Access your UNCW Applicant Portal to review your enrollment checklist and upcoming deadlines.

  • Declare your intent to enroll for Spring by the July 1 deadline. Completing the intent to enroll form, linked in your decision letter, secures your spot in our Spring First-Year class and allows you to access your next enrollment steps.
  • Apply for on-campus Housing. First-Year students admitted for the spring semester are not required to live on campus but have the option. Housing for the spring is available based on space. The Housing application will open in October.
  • Register for your required Orientation. Orientation for spring admits will be in January and registration opens in October.
  • Send your Official Final High School Transcript and any Official Records of Advanced Credit (AP, CLEP, IB, all other Credit by Examination, or all Official College Transcripts) by July 15

First-Year Spring Admit (FYSA) students will be provided with a coordinated transition program throughout the fall semester and enjoy the flexibility of choosing how to spend the fall semester. There are no requirements put on FYSA students for the fall, but a number of options are available:

  • Academics. If you wish to get a head start on your academics, you can take classes at a community college near home or close to UNCW.
  • Internships. Internships are an excellent opportunity to explore a career field. Students are encouraged to find their own (non-credit) internships.
  • Work. Some students choose to work full- or part-time in order to save money to help finance college costs
  • Study Abroad. Use the fall semester to study abroad with other spring admits through our FYSA in the UK program, which invites FYSA students to earn credits abroad at our partner university in Bangor, Wales, United Kingdom.

Within myUNCW, students can also access their UNCW e-mail, calendar, and read about campus news and events. If you have trouble logging in or using the tools in myUNCW, contact the Technology Assistance Center (TAC).

In addition to completing the enrollment steps above:

If you are not planning to attend UNCW during the term for which you applied, please withdraw your application.

You may do so by completing the Decision Reply form within your UNCW Applicant Portal. Completion of this form withdraws your application from the university, rescinding any offer of admission as well.
