The Undergraduate Biotechnology Research Fellowship grant program: This spring to support student science and engineering research and foster interest in and preparation for careers in biotechnology. Undergraduate research funded in this program must have strong relevance to biotechnology science, technology, and applications. Fellowships are $5,000 per student.

The U. S. Department of Commerce (DOC)-Internship for Postsecondary Students Program: Has one remaining internship available for Spring 2011 Session. Preferred applicants should be graduate students studying or with a background in wireless technologies or working toward a degree in EE with an emphasis on RF communications. Junior or senior undergraduates will be considered. The internship will be in the Washington, D.C., and will require either part time (20-24 hours per week) or full time (40 hours per week). The internship will be for up to 15 weeks ending no later than 31 May 2011.
Weekly stipends are $600.00 for graduate interns and $500.00 for undergraduates. Part time stipends are prorated based on the number of hours involved per week. In addition, both undergraduate and graduate interns receive a $150 weekly housing allowance, plus limited travel reimbursement and accidental medical expense coverage.

Amgen Scholars Program: Provides faculty-mentored summer research opportunities for undergraduates focused on science and biotechnology. The summer experience is anchored by a national symposium held at UCLA, and all Scholars attend.

Psi Chi Undergraduate Research Grants: Psi Chi is an international honor society in psychology. All undergraduate Psi Chi members are eligible to apply for these undergraduate research grants. The purpose of this program is to provide funds for members to defray the cost of conducting a research project. Applicants may request up to $1,500 for each project.

Diversity in Vision Research and Ophthalmology Summer Internship Program: The mission of the NEI is to conduct and support research that helps prevent and treat eye diseases and other visual disorders. The DIVRO program offers each participant the opportunity to work closely with leading research scientists in the Division of Intramural Research and provides students with hands-on training in a research environment that will prepare them to continue their studies and advance their careers in basic and clinical research.citizens or permanent residents and should have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) or science course GPA of 3.2 or better. Interns typically work 8-12 weeks at the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD or at the Twinbrook facility at Fishers Lane in Rockville, MD. Internships may begin between mid-May and the beginning of July. Stipend is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program: Western Kentucky University seeks talented science students to participate in its summer National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in investigative biotechnology (May 29-August 3, 2012). We especially encourage applications from students who are members of groups underrepresented in graduate education in the biological sciences. students will receive a stipend of $500 per week, free housing, meal and travel allowances, and lab supplies.

The Natural Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution (NMNH): NSF funded research experience for undergraduates. Interns will be selected through a competitive process. This is a paid internship that will run from May 29th through August 3rd.
-Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research: The program awards grants of up to $1,000 to undergraduate and graduate students from all areas of the sciences and engineering. Funds may be used for research (equipment, etc.) and travel expenses.

The Biology Division of the Council of Undergraduate Research (CUR): Is offering a limited number of travel grants, up to $250 each, for undergraduate students presenting original research results at a regional or national, discipline-specific meeting during the fiscal year 2011 - 2012. Award recipients are required to acknowledge CUR for support of their travel in their talk or poster, to complete a short evaluation form about their meeting experience and to submit a PDF file of their poster. Minority students are encouraged to apply.
