Why We Celebrate
Employee Appreciation Week

Mission Statement: UNCW Employee Appreciation Week emphasizes gratitude and appreciation for our greatest resource; employees and their Seahawk Spirit. Activites will celebrate the contributions of all employees to the university and our community while being fun and providing opportunities for employees to meet and strengthen relationships.

About Employee Appreciation Week

Thanks to all of you, UNCW is soaring to greatness despite a sluggish economy and vastly reduced state budgets. We’ve faced difficult decisions together and we’ve risen above many limitations. We succeed, because we believe in this university and its mission to offer the highest quality teaching and research opportunities for our students.  Our achievements – including the quality of the students we attract and retain, our graduation rates, increases in research funding and private support, and high placement in national rankings – are derived from your hard work.

Employee Appreciation Week is part of our ongoing efforts to recognize the great work that each and every employee does for UNCW.  We have scheduled events beginning on Thursday, September 27 and continuing through Wednesday, October 3. Activities include a free cook-out and soccer game for employees and immediate family members, admission to a additional women’s soccer game as well as a men's soccer game, and our annual Appreciation Luncheon.   Other events include receptions for the Service Award and Award of Excellence honorees, free breakfast for employees, recognizing our employee Alumni, our annual wellness and perks fair, and the ever-popular door decorating contest.

The EAW Committee felt that this year's theme "We Are UNCW: Days to Applaud & Recognize Employees. Dare to Soar! " captures where UNCW is right now; we've been soaring and the new vision of Chancellor Miller and the administration is giving us new opportunities to reach even greater heights!

Please look for the EAW Committee members throughout the week; we are happy to answer questions and assist you in any way.
