Creating a Climate of Innovation
“By employing some of our creative energies towards our own operations, we will find efficient, and more importantly, better, ways to promote excellence in our academic and service programs.”
- Chancellor Gary L. Miller
The University Innovation Council wants your ideas about how we can best nurture a culture of innovation, adaptability and creativity at UNC Wilmington. All faculty, staff and students are invited and encouraged to participate in the conversation through our IdeaScale website.
Suggestion or Innovation?
Ideas fall into two categories: innovations and suggestions. Suggestions improve on what we already have or do. They focus on implementing changes through similar means, but in a more efficient or varied manner. Innovation means to renew or change. An innovative idea brings something new or novel. When we innovate, we re:spond; we re:new.
All items submitted are reviewed by the UIC, but not all ideas can be classified as innovative. Once reviewed by the UIC and designated as a suggestion, the submission is moved to “Off Topic.” All suggestions are considered valid and are forwarded to the appropriate business area for review and/or action. Each individual business unit is responsible for reviewing the feasibility of the suggestion and determining whether an action will be taken on that suggestion.
This site invites both suggestions to improve and innovations to revolutionize how we perform. Just log in with your UNCW credentials to connect to the site and submit your ideas--then keep coming back to
participate in the conversation and help those ideas grow.
