Changes in university curricula may be initiated by the department, the Faculty Senate, or the deans or directors, and they require official approval. Faculty involvement in proposed changes in the undergraduate curricula is accomplished through the following committee structure:
- Program and department review
- College curriculum committees
- University Curriculum Committee (UCC)
- University Studies Advisory Committee (USAC)
Proposals for new degree programs, requests to change the name of existing programs, and requests for discontinuation of degree programs must be reviewed by the UNC System Office.
Resources:
Academic Catalogue:
The university's academic catalogue is the official source for curriculum, including program requirements, course descriptions, and academic policies.
Students and faculty should refer to the academic catalog for official curriculum requirements and to individual course syllabi for course-specific details.
For questions, please contact undergraduatecatalogue@uncw.edu.
For questions regarding Curriculum (Curriculog), please contact curriculum@uncw.edu.
Syllabus:
UNCW uses Concourse Syllabus as its syllabus management system. A syllabus is a required document for all credit-bearing courses and is developed by the instructor in accordance with UNC System policy and university guidelines.
Syllabi are available to the public through the Concourse Syllabus repository and accessed through the Academic Catalogue: Navigate to Course Descriptions, select a course, and click the syllabus icon within the course detail pop-up.
Syllabus Availability:
Syllabi are made available to the public in Concourse Syllabus approximately one week prior to the first day of classes for each academic term.
For term dates and deadlines, please refer to the Important Dates & Deadlines page.
For questions, please contact syllabus@uncw.edu.
