11/20/18 - UNCW Housing and Residence Life will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 22, and Friday, November 23. We will re-open on Monday, November 27. Happy Thanksgiving Seahawks! 

9/10/18 - IMPORTANT! UNCW has issued a mandatory campus evacuation for all students, effective at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Students must evacuate campus beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and must leave campus no later than 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. (A voluntary evacuation remains in place until then.)
 
The university is collaborating with UNC Asheville to house those UNCW students who do not have other options for safe shelter. A shelter, with cots for students, is in place at UNC Asheville and meals will be made available to students housed there. Every effort is being made to ensure our students’ safety and comfort during this time. To register for assistance, please contact the Dean of Students' Office at 910.962.3119, no later than 5 p.m. today, Monday, Sept. 10. The university will not be able to provide assistance in securing a location after 5 p.m. today. Students will not be allowed back in the residence halls and/or on campus after 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11; the university will convey information about returning to campus when available.
 
We cannot overstate this: Before heading out, you should have a FULL TANK OF GAS, a PAPER MAP, and CASH, as you could face challenges finding available/functioning ATMs and gas stations during the preparation for, and duration of, this event. 9/9/18 - IMPORTANT! Based on National Weather Service forecasts indicating that Hurricane Florence has the potential to directly affect the UNCW area later this week, the university has issued a voluntary evacuation for students, starting at 12 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10. Classes are canceled after 12 p.m.
 
Effective 12 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, the university has canceled all university-sponsored events and athletics, including Fall Family and Alumni Weekend (Sept. 14-15), the women’s soccer match vs. ECU on Thursday (Sept. 13) and the Hampton Inn Seahawk Invitational women’s volleyball tournament (Sept. 14-15).
 
In a voluntary evacuation, students are encouraged, but not required, to leave campus for a safer location. According to the university’s evacuation policies, classes are officially canceled and the grading and attendance policies are suspended. 9/9/18 - Housing and Residence Life would like to take this opportunity to let you know that our Fall Open Room Change process is postponed until further notice due to Hurricane Florence.      An email will go out to you about the Open Room Change process with details at your UNCW email address when we are ready to begin this process again, please review that email for more detailed information.

8/31/18 - Housing and Residence Life would like to take this opportunity to let you know that our Fall Open Room Change process will take place beginning at 10am on Monday, September 10th and will run through until 2pm on Friday, September 14th . If you are interested in the possibility of a room change from your current space, please reach out to your Residence Coordinator or Assistant Residence Coordinator  in your area to make arrangements.  An email went out to you about Open Room Change at your UNCW email address, please review that email for more detailed information.   Room changes are made on a first come first serve basis!

July 23, 2018 - ITS Scheduled Maintenance - As part of our preapproved scheduled maintenance weekends, from August 3 (12 p.m.) – August 6 (8 a.m.), ITS will be performing maintenance work on various campus systems. These maintenance weekends allow ITS the opportunity to patch and upgrade UNCW systems, which is required to keep our systems and data secure and highly available.   For more information click here.

July 23, 2018 - Notice:  Cahill Drive Traffic Closure - Both lanes of Cahill Drive west of its intersection with Walton Drive will be closed to traffic beginning at 7 p.m. July 26 to accommodate electrical and sewer infrastructure installation related to the construction of Veterans Hall. The road is expected to reopen at 11 a.m. July 30.   Please follow all safety signage and do not cross construction fencing or take "shortcuts" through work sites.

July 23, 2018 - UNCW will conduct a full-volume test of the Seahawk Warning Siren System at 12 p.m. on Monday, July 30. The university will also test additional emergency communication tools in conjunction with the siren, including email, desktop, phone and text notifications, as well as emergency beacons at CREST Research Park.The Seahawk Warning Siren System is an outdoor emergency warning tool and may not be audible inside campus buildings. No action is required when the siren sounds during the test. For more information click here.

July 3, 2018 - Our office will be closed on July 4, 2018 in observance of Independence Day but will re-open on Thursday, July 5th at 7:30am.  

May 30, 2018 - The Housing application may be periodically down over the weekend due to ITS performing routine maintenance on campus systems.  This will begin at noon on Friday, June 1st and work should be concluded by 8am on Monday, June 4th.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

4/11/18 - On-campus residents should check-out 24 hours after their last final exam or by 3 pm on Friday, May 4, 2018, whichever comes first.   Requests for extended stays should be directed to the Residence Coordinator.  All spring housing ends at 10 am on Sunday, May 6, 2018.  Please make sure to check your UNCW email for closing procedures and information.

3/6/18 - Scheduled Wireless Downtime - On Friday, March 9th wireless access will be unavailable beginning at 5:30 pm due to network maintenance on campus. The downtime will take approximately 2 hours to complete but could take as long as 4 hours. Wired access will remain available. 3/1/18 - UNCW's Spring Break will be from Saturday, March 3rd through Sunday, March 11th.  Traditional residence halls will be closing for break and all students must check out by Saturday, March 3rd at 10am.  Traditional housing will re-open on Sunday, March 11th at 10am.

2/14/18 - Today, Wednesday February 14th at 10am all students currently living off-campus and transfer students can reserve their room in Seahawk Crossing, Seahawk Landing, Seahawk Village, or University Suites and pull-in roommates.

2/7/18 - On Wednesday,  February 7th at your designated time all current residents can reserve their room in Seahawk Crossing, Seahawk Landing, Seahawk Village, or University Suites and pull-in roommates.

2/5/18 - Mark your calendars for Monday, February 5th and Tuesday, February 6th as they are the first two days that you can reserve your room in Seahawk Crossing and pull-in roommates at 10am.  You have priority access to Seahawk Crossing for the 2018-2019 academic year. Click on "My Seaport" and sign your housing agreement online and pay your $105.00 non-refundable housing application fee.

1/17/18 - According to the National Weather Service, significant winter weather impacts are not likely in the Wilmington area, but there is always the possibility of icy/snowy bridges, underpasses and roadways. Please use caution and your best judgement when traveling to and from the campus tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 17) and Thursday (Jan. 18) morning. UNCW will continue to monitor winter weather conditions overnight as a precaution, but the university does not anticipate cancellations or delays.  To read more click here.

1/6/18 -   UNCW has officially reopened for weekend activities, including freshman orientation (Sunday at 9 a.m.), and for the resumption of classes as scheduled on Monday, Jan. 8.  All residence halls are now open. However, students are strongly advised not to return to campus until Sunday, ideally during daylight hours, to ensure as much progress as possible has been made on campus and on regional roadways. Although employees continue to work diligently on clearing campus walkways and roads, there will remain spots that are icy and/or slick, particularly those in shaded areas, until temperatures begin to climb in earnest on Monday. Students, employees and visitors should exercise extreme caution in traveling on foot and by vehicle on and around campus.  To read more click here.

1/5/18 - UNCW will officially re-open on Saturday, January 6, 2018 for weekend activities, including freshman orientation (Sunday at 9 a.m.). With clean-up efforts underway, classes are fully expected to begin as scheduled on Monday, Jan. 8. If that changes, a campus email will be sent and updates will appear via the university's website and other channels.  All residence halls are now open, with the exception of Graham Hall, which will open on Saturday at 3 p.m. However, students are strongly advised not to return to campus until Sunday, ideally during daylight hours, to ensure as much progress as possible has been made on campus and on regional roadways.  To read more click here.

1/4/18 - UNCW will remain closed through Friday, January 5, 2018.   However, students are advised to avoid travel at this time unless a Friday return to campus is absolutely necessary, and, as always, they should make the travel and safety decisions that are best for them. Please note that students will not be able to return to Graham Hall until Saturday at 3 p.m. due to ongoing heat/hot water repair.  This does not affect any other residence halls, including Hewlett Hall. If that changes, students will be notified via email. There is no need to call campus to confirm that a residence hall is open; all halls other than Graham are open, and any changes will be communicated immediately.  To read more click here.

1/3/18 - Graham Hall will remain closed until Saturday evening at 3 p.m. (January 6, 2018) due to an unforeseen heat and hot water issue. Those students who have not yet returned to campus should not do so until Saturday after 3 p.m. This does not affect residents in Hewlett Hall. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, the safety and security of our students is our top priority. If this situation changes, we will contact you via your UNCW email account. Any additional questions can be directed to the Graham-Hewlett front desk at 910.962.5401.

1/3/18 - Spring Move-In 2018 kicked off with great energy today in spite of the cold temperatures outside.  Our Residence Halls are open, please travel safely and arrive when you can.   Staff will be available to assist you please go to the front desk for your area for assistance.  We will continue to update all of you regarding the winter weather event here and on our social media.  Welcome to your new home away from home!  Thank you.

10/16/17 - Spring Housing Release requests must be submitted by November 1, 2017 in order to avoid a $100.00 late cancellation fee.  Acceptable reasons for housing release are: Going out on Study/Education Abroad, Transferring to another university, withdrawal from UNCW, graduation in December or marriage.  The university will not accept any other reasons for cancellation.  Students that wish to be released from their housing obligation must come to the Housing and Residence Life office and complete a request for housing release form.  Documentation must be provided.

10/13/17 - ITS will be performing maintenance work on the campus networks and systems from October 13 (5 p.m.) – October 16 (8 a.m.). During this time frame, the housing application is subject to intermittent interruptions and may be unavailable due to patching and reboots.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

9/19/17 - On October 2, 2017 at 10:00am the FYSA Application, Spring Transfer and Spring International student application portal opens.

9/18/17 - Fall Open Room Change process begins today September 18th at 9am through Thursday, September 21st at 5pm.  If you are interested in the possibility of a room change from your current space, please reach out to your Residence Coordinator in your area to make arrangements.  Room changes are made on a first come first serve basis!

6/1/17 -The Housing Application may be periodically down over the weekend due to ITS performing routine maintenance on the campus networks and systems beginning at 5pm on Friday, June 2nd.  Work should be concluded by 8am on Monday, June 5th.

4/11/17 - The SUMMER housing application opened on Monday, April 3rd at 10am. If you would like to stay with us for the summer sessions, you will need to apply through the Housing Sign-Up process in mySeaport and pay your non-refundable $50 summer housing contract fee. Students are REQUIRED to be enrolled in a Summer Session course in order to be eligible for Summer Housing.  For more information click here.

3/30/17 - All on-campus housing closes for the spring semester on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 3:00pm or within 24 hours of your last exam, whichever comes first.  If you have an extenuating circumstance, please contact your Residence Coordinator.  Thank you.

3/23/17 - Contract Release deadline is April 30, 2017.  Per the housing contract, students who enroll for the fall term will be responsible for the full cost of the room for the contract period, unless a written notice of cancellation is received by the UNCW Office of Housing and Residence Life.  Students that wish to be released from their housing obligation must come to the Housing and Residence Life office and complete a contract release form.

2/21/17 - UNCW's Spring Break will be from Saturday, March 4th through Sunday, March 12th.  Traditional residence halls will be closing for break and all students must check out by Saturday, March 4th at 10am.  Traditional housing will re-open on Sunday, March 12th at 10am.

The following residence halls will remain open during Spring Break however students living in University Apartments or University Suites will need to seek Housing and Residence Life assistance from the Seahawk Village desk at 910-962-8872.

11/22/16 - Returning Student Sign-Up will begin on 2/1/17 at 10:00 am.

11/21/16 - Fall Freshman Application opens up on 1/17/17 at 10:00 am.

10/26/16 - The UNCW Housing Application system will be unavailable this weekend for planned IT Maintenance, which will begin on Friday, October 28 at 5 p.m. and conclude by Monday, October 31 at 8 a.m.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

10/26/16 - The Office of Housing and Residence Life would like to take this opportunity to remind you that spring contract release requests must be submitted by November 1, 2016 in order to avoid a $100 late contract cancellation fee. All contract release requests must be made in person at the Housing and Residence Life Office.

Acceptable reasons for contract release submission include:

·         Going out on Study/Education Abroad **

·         Transferring to another university**

·         Graduation in December 

**If you have applied to either go out on Study/Education Abroad or Transfer out but have not received your acceptance notification, you should submit a pending contract release request to our office by November 1st. We will hold your contract release request in a pending status until you can provide documentation of your acceptance.

8/8/16 - If you are considered a spring admit, the housing application for FYSA and Spring Transfers will not open until September 15 and will remain open until October 15, or until space is no longer available. Please call our office with any questions at 910-962-3241. 

7/7/16 - Move-In 2016 is fast approaching, it’s only 36 days away and we are very excited to welcome our newest Seahawks, the class of 2020.  To give them the great move-in experience you once enjoyed, we need your help as a volunteer.  Sign up by clicking here Volunteer for Move-In. This is a day full of fun, excitement, and great energy with breakfast and lunch provided! Please consider volunteering to help continue the tradition of UNCW’s amazing move-in experience! As a volunteer, you should ensure you arrive on Wednesday, August 10th or Thursday, August 11th.  

5/25/16 - Housing assignments are now available, however we are still in the process of assigning students to Housing.  Due to the large number in the freshmen class, this process takes some time as we are assigning student based on their contract receipt date. When your assignment is ready, you will receive notification via your UNCW email that your assignment is ready to view. Please contact our office at 910-962-3241 if you have additional questions.
