UNCW Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

The University of North Carolina Wilmington publishes its Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASFSR) each year in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (The Clery Act). The report contains crime and fire statistics for the three most recent calendar years and information about UNCW’s campus safety and security policies, including policies addressing emergency response, security of campus facilities, reporting crimes and emergencies, sexual misconduct, and fire safety.

The report includes statistics for certain crimes reported to have occurred on campus; in or on non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by UNCW; and on public property within, immediately adjacent to, and accessible from campus. The fire statistics refer to fires that have occurred in student housing facilities.

Current students and employees are notified annually of the report’s availability. Prospective students and employees may also obtain the report. A printed copy is available upon request from the UNCW Office of Title IX and Clery Compliance and UNCW Police Department; printed fire-safety information is also available through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report FAQ

Institutions of higher education must publish its ASFSR each year by October 1 and must inform current students and employees about its availability. Institutions also must make the ASFSR available to prospective students and employees.

An ASFSR should contain the three previous calendar years' worth of Clery Act crime statistics. For example, if an ASFSR is published on or before October 1, 2024 it should contain Clery Act crime statistics for the calendar years of 2023, 2022, and 2021.
