Jeff Greenham: New Works

Oct. 13–Nov. 11
Artist Reception: Thurs., Oct. 13, 5:30–7 p.m.

Jeff Greenham’s work functions within the potter’s tradition of acknowledging
the past and making a contribution to the ongoing history by carefully addressing,
adding, removing and re-inventing within that tradition.

Grounded in traditional forms yet influenced by modernist design, the work
often has surprising shifts in scale and a sly sense of humor, visually highlighted
through technical dexterity of ceramic chemistry, clay, glaze and firing.

and painter creating and residing in Asheville, North Carolina. A Kansas
native, Haley studied blacksmithing for many years in Texas and New Mexico
before turning his focus to sculpture.

Hoss Haley carefully designs drawing machines as an extension of the hand, creating
a dialog between hand, eye and machine. In this exhibit Haley’s drawing
machine is controlled by the numerical sequence of PI. Because PI is an infinite
number, the path of the machine is never the same. The exhibit will have several
completed drawings and the machine will be in operation during the opening.
