Subject: FY 2008-09 Budget Restrictions -- Student Temps

All:

In yesterday’s email (in the vacant position/hiring section) I mentioned that we were seeking further guidance from OSBM regarding the hiring of temporary workers after April 9, 2009.  Well, we received word today, and I quote:

OSBM response: Concerning student workers – there are no exceptions unless you can demonstrate dire consequences if the students are not hired.

As you can see, we are prohibited from hiring any NEW student workers for the remainder of FY 2008-09.  If you have an exception, please follow the prescribed process.

One final note regarding exceptions.  I know there has been numerous conversations across campus regarding exception approvals.  Please remember that only OSBM can approve exceptions (w/ two exceptions).  In ALL cases exceptions must come through me so I can track and ensure that we receive the appropriate cash once approved.  I’ve received several already and will process them immediately.
