Four-eye butterfly fish

Indigo hamlet

Various biological aspects of reef-associated fishes are studied. Preliminary research on distribution, as well as the foods and reproductive behaviors of key species inhabiting North Carolina reefs have been completed. Effort has been made to study larval distribution patterns using nets and light traps. In addition, research has been initiated on reproductive patterns of various coral reef fishes in the Florida Keys.  More recent research also involves the culture of valuable marine ornamental species.
