Plant Environmental Stress
Plant Environmental Stress

Plants are of particular interest in the study of adaptation to the environment, as they are rooted in place and have variable developmental patterns. Environmental stress arises when biotic or abiotic conditions are outside the ranges that individual plants or species of plants are already adapted to tolerate. The mechanisms of adaptation and acclimation to stress are studied with cutting edge physiological and genetic tools, such as PAM fluorometry and microarrays.
