The main thrust of my research is in the control of locomotion, and locomotory speed, in marine invertebrates. I take a comparative approach, using the pteropod mollusk, Clione limacina, and a variety of hydrozoan, scyphozoan and cubozoan jellyfish as primary model systems. As a comparative neuroethologist, I am interested in other projects that focus on the neural control of behavior and the integrative actions of the nervous system. For example a recent project involves a description of the neurobiological basis of arousal and motivational states in Clione.  Click here to view my lab poster (pdf).
