206 Animal Biology (4), prerequisite BIO 110

The above requirements should be taken early in the program of study.

2. Biology Requirements. 13 hours mimimum

315 Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy (4), prereq. BIO 206

335 Genetics with lab (3, 1), prereq. BIO 110

345 Animal Physiology with lab (3, 1), prereq. BIO 110 and CHM 102 , or
347 Molecular Biology of the Cell with lab (3, 1), prereq. BIO 110 and CHM 211/CHML211,
or

465 Biochemistry with lab (3, 1), prerequisite BIO 110 and CHM 211/CHML211

495 Seminar (1-3), prereq. junior or senior standing and consent of instructor

3. Biology Electives. A minimum of 8 hours is required chosen from the following:

316 Vertebrate Embryology (4), prereq. BIO 206

320 Immunology (3), prereq. BIO 110

371 Human Fungal Diseases (1), prereq. BIO 110

377 Mycology with lab (3, 1), prereq. BIO 110

410 Electron Microscopy and Cell Ultrastructure with lab (3, 1), prereq. BIO 347

425 Microbiology (4), prereq. BIO 110 and junior status

435 Molecular Genetics (3), prereq. BIO 335, 347 or 465 and CHM 102

440 Developmental Biology (4), prereq. BIO 335

A “C” or better average on Biology courses at the 300-400 level is required for graduation.

This option is designed for students who wish pre-professional training in medicine, dentistry, optometry, and other health care fields. The sequence of courses conforms to entrance requirements prescribed in publications of the Association of American Medical Colleges, the American Association of Dental Schools, and the Council on Optometric Education of the American Optometric Association.
