Boseman Gallery Information

This beautiful gallery space is named in honor of one of UNCW's most beloved friends, Ann Flack Boseman, by her friends Mark Griffis and Dave Robertson. Ann Flack Boseman was born in Forest City, NC, eventually graduating from UNCG in 1951 with a degree in Elementary Education.

She has three children, two of whom graduated from UNCW. Ms. Boseman went on to receive the Alumni Distinguished Service Award from UNCG in 1991, was a docent of St. John's Museum, was a Member of Outreach of NC Museum, was a recipient of the Service to Mankind Award and the Wilmington Human Relations Citizen of the Year, the 1989 County Citizen of the Year, received the NC Human Relations Citizen Award for the struggle for Human Rights and Social Justice for all citizens, instigated the Presbyterian Family Life Center of Wilmington, and is the Vice President and Secretary of Boseman's Sporting Goods in Wilmington.

The Boseman Gallery has the pleasure of hosting five (5) annual exhibitions to showcase art work and two (2) of which are reoccurring exhibitions including: 

  • The annual All-Student Show welcomes UNCW students to submit elgiible artwork and media regardless of their major! This exhibition truly represents artistic talent can spread far and wide throughout academic disciplines - whether it is a graphic designer pursuing marine biology or photographer in business administration. Various awards are given including Best of Show, Honorable Mentions, Campus Life Purchase Award, and the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Choice Award.
  • The Boseman Scholarship Show is a exhibition for one artist to showcase their personal work. The artist is a recipient of the Ann Flack Boseman Art Scholarship, a merit scholarship dedicated to an individual who has been accepted into the Department of Art and Art History as a studio arts major. 

The purpose of the Campus Life Permanent Art Collection is to increase artistic appreciation and enjoyment of the student centers by the members of the University community. It also expands interests and understanding across a broad range of cultural and social backgrounds, promotes aesthetic and cultural development opportunities for students, and integrates art into the daily living environment of the University Union and Center. Currently, we have the largest student art collection in the state of North Carolina.

The collection includes, but is not limited to, ceramics, photography, sculpture, painting, screen prints, and drawings. The Campus Life Permanent Collection can be found on display throughout the meeting rooms and lounge spaces within the Campus Life facilities including the Fisher University Union, Fisher Student Center, Warwick Center and Burney Center.

The Ann Flack Boseman Gallery is located on the second floor of the Fisher University Union. Campus Activities & Programs is located within the Campus Activities & Involvement Center (CAIC) on the second floor of the Fisher Student Center.
