Dr. Stephen J. Pullum is Professor of Communication Studies. He received his Ph.D. from Indiana University and his M.A. from The University of Tennessee. Dr. Pullum teaches courses in Communication Theory, Intercultural Communication, Rhetorical Criticism, Nonverbal Communication, and Religious Rhetoric. His book “Foul Demons, Come Out!” examines why American faith-healing discourse has been popular in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Dr. Pullum has won the Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence award, the Distinguished Teaching Professorship award, and the Distinguished Scholarly Engagement and Public Service award. He is a member of the National Communication Association, the Religious Communication Association, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He enjoys playing tennis and kayaking in his spare time.
