DIGITAL ARTS
(Interdisciplinary)

The purpose of the Digital Arts Minor is to promote interdisciplinary learning in the cross-section of computer science and the arts that can be applied to modern media and communication technologies such as computer animation, digital filmmaking, video games, interactive applications, visualization, and Internet applications.  Courses are selected to develop knowledge, reasoning, and skills while encouraging a broader approach to thinking about issues that are both technical and artistic in nature.

Requirement for a Minor in Digital Arts:  24 hours.  A minor in digital arts requires completion of 24 hours, including 18 hours of core courses and 6 hours of electives.  At least 3 elective hours must be at the 300 level or above, and at least 3 elective hours must be chosen from outside a student’s major department.

 
Core Courses: ART 101, ART 260; CSC 112 or 121 (or other approved course), CSC 204, CSC 220 (ART 220) (FST 220), and COM 280.  ART 101 is a prerequisite for ART 260.  ART 260 should also be taken before CSC 204 and before CSC 220 (ART 220) (FST 220).

Students must earn at least a “C” (2.00) average in courses counted for a digital arts minor. This minor is available for students majoring in computer science.

Submit this application to the Registrar's Office (Note: this minor does not go into effect until Fall 2007, so wait until August to turn this one in.)
