Construction Notice
Be alert in construction zones. Look out for hazards and remember the site will change daily. The following are areas currently under construction:
Closure at Keenan Hall
Sidewalk closing at Keenan Hall effective 4-17-12. The closing starts at the NW exit doors sidewalk and extends NE until intersecting Kenan Hall drive. A drawing of the exact location can be found at the following link: Keenan Hall Closure. The anticipated re-opening of the sidewalk is 4-18-12 or 4-19-12. The clouded grass areas and courtyard shown on the drawing are also closed except for emergency egress.
Closure at Teaching Lab/Parking Lot S
Construction of the new Psychology Building near Parking Lot S will begin on Monday March 7, 2011, with the installation of a construction fence. Fencing will block off the entire west half of Parking Lot S and extend on the following four edges:
- Price Drive – Fencing will begin slightly west of Reynolds Drive and continue east to the front of the Student Recreation Center. The fence will extend beyond the sidewalk on Price Drive and beyond the roadway. During construction, the sidewalk area and roadway along the north end of Price Drive will not serve as a throughway for pedestrians or vehicles.
- Fencing will continue across parking Lot S towards Chancellor’s Walk.
- Chancellor’s walk – Fencing will run along the south end of Chancellor’s walk to prohibit entrance into Parking Lot S and extend just west of Reynolds Drive.
- Along Reynolds Drive – Fencing will be placed just west of Reynolds Drive in the wooded area between Chancellor’s Walk and Price Drive. The sidewalk west of Reynolds Drive, through the woods, will not be contained within the fenced area.
Temporary Sidewalk Closure
Temporary sidewalk closure beginning Monday, February 20, 2012 for about six (6) weeks depending on weather. Installation of mechanical piping alongside the road from the corner of McNeill Hall near stoplight up Cahill Drive to the Dobo Hall loading dock will affect vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Access will be maintained to all buildings from one direction or the other; pedestrian traffic will be maintained in both directions with intermittent sidewalk closures. Effective, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 for about 2-3 weeks road closure will take place on the section of Cahill Drive between the School of Education parking lot entry to the Dobo Hall loading dock entry. It is less than half a block.There will still be a hard surface (asphalt) for pedestrian passage next to this closure. Pedestrian passage will be on the North (Education Building) side of the road. Other areas affected:
- Cahill/Reynolds Drive intersection (at light) will be unaffected.
- Education Building parking access will only be available from the east (stoplight side).
- Dobo Hall parking and loading dock access will only be available from north (Friday Hall side).
- Cameron Hall parking and loading dock access will only be available from north (Friday Hall side).
- Friday Annex parking and building vehicle access will only be available from north (Friday Hall side).
- PPH Lab and Greenhouse building vehicle access will only be available from north (Friday Hall side).
- Friday Hall and Burevitch Lab vehicle access will only be available from north (Friday Hall side).

Permanent Sidewalk Closure
Site clearing equipment has begun to arrive at the Student Recreation Center Expansion site (south side of the existing facility). Fencing around the entire site is scheduled to begin 5/20/10 with site clearing to begin as soon as the roadway/sidewalk fencing is in place. The site fencing will remain in place for the duration of the entire project (through 2012).
The sidewalk being removed is the section that meanders through the trees on the south side of the Student Recreation Center. This section runs from the south-east corner of the SRC to the bridge crossing the blue line stream.
The detour route is accessible and is as follows:
North to South: From the south east corner of SRC, cross Walton at the existing cross walk, continue south along the walk paralleling Walton, cross Walton to the west at the existing crosswalk (next o the blue-line-stream). This walk reconnects where the removed sidewalk left off.
South to North: At the blue-line-stream bridge, continue east along the sidewalk and cross Walton. Continue north along the sidewalk paralleling Walton. Cross Walton to the west at the south-east corner of the SRC; this cross-walk reconnects where the removed sidewalk left off.
