The Watson College of Education Alumni Chapter hosted their annual spring dinner on Tuesday, April 28 in the education building. Dewy N. “Chris” Furr was recognized as the Watson College of Education’s Distinguished Alumni of the year. Chris was chosen as the 2015 award recipient based on his achievements as an educator accompanied by his extensive community involvement.
Four current WCE Students, Maya Bassett, Katlyn Joyner, Daniella Kelly and Stephie McCumbee were announced as the winners of the WCE Alumni Chapter 2015-2016 Scholarship. Another highlight of the evening was a panel discussion from guest speakers, Kris Florea ‘09M, Hoggard High School English teacher and Hoggard High School Teacher of the Year and Kayce Smith ‘12M, South Brunswick Middle School-World Languages and Brunswick County Schools’ Teacher of the year. The attendees enjoyed the evening and look forward to the next WCE Alumni dinner in the fall.
