Christa Faison is a native of Wilmington, N.C. She graduated from Wilmington Christian Academy and studies music education at UNC Wilmington where she serves as a resident assistant, student director of the UNCW Voices of Praise Gospel Choir, principal of the UNCW Strings Ensemble and as a member of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. Her future plans include earning her doctorate degree in music or education and establishing a school for musicians that will provide advanced education for students pursuing music as a career.
Jennifer Carter is an elementary education major at UNC Wilmington where she enjoys being a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and the vice president of the Creative Seahawks Craft Club. She has two dogs and a cat. Her interests include swimming, scrapbooking and theatre. Her future plans are to teach in Moore County, N.C., and to start a craft club and a drama club for her school district.
Jeanne Hodges is majoring in elementary education with a minor in psychology. She considers herself a creative soul and is the president of the Creative Seahawks Craft Club. She loves to make all sorts of things and hopes that her love of the arts is reflected in her teaching style. After graduating in fall 2012, she hopes to travel to Europe where she will intern or teach. She has plans to become a wonderful, innovative, and passionate teacher.
Hailey Carlton, currently a sophomore teaching fellow at UNC Wilmington majoring in elementary education, is originally from Hudson, N.C. She hopes to teach in Wilmington after graduation. Her favorite subject is math and she loves to run when she has free time.
Emily Smith is a junior teaching fellow at UNC Wilmington studying elementary education with a concentration in behavioral studies and a minor in French. She enjoys reading fiction and relaxing on the beach. Upon graduation, she hopes to find a job teaching at a Title I school in eastern North Carolina.
Brianna Campbell, a political science/secondary social studies education major from Franklinton, N.C., works for UNC Wilmington’s Center for Leadership Education and Service. She loves watching Glee, swimming and reading. Brianna plans to teach in an at-risk high school upon graduation and eventually to return to school to pursue a medical degree.
William Gordon, from Sanford, N.C., attended Southern Lee High School. His interests include playing golf, watching football and listening to music. He is a secondary education history major and plans to teach high school history after graduation.
Kayleigh Zinter is from northeastern North Carolina. She loves school, soccer and college football. She is currently a sophomore at UNC Wilmington. When she graduates, she intends to return to her hometown. She plans on teaching history to high school students and, as often as possible, using hands-on learning techniques in her lessons. She also aims to coach girls’ soccer.
Ashley Pack is a secondary science education major from Waxhaw, NC. Her interests include gymnastics, relaxing on the beach, and playing Madden. She plans on spreading the love of science by using fun and innovative hands-on techniques, as well as coaching cheerleading.
