Diane
Calhoun, M.Ed. is the Director of the Watson School
of Education Professional Development System, a university-school
partnership with ten school systems and over 100 schools.
She has team taught the graduate courses in supervision
and coaching, and took a leadership role in the implementation
of study group and developing teacher leadership in a previous
grant. Ms. Calhoun’s primary role with this project
is in teaching the online, web-enhanced advanced training
in mentoring as well as team teaching the graduate coursework
for new mentors.

Jeff
Ertzberger, M.Ed. is Emerging Technology Liaison
in the Watson School of Education. He lectures on technology
trends and the use of technology in educational practice.
Mr. Ertzberger provides technology tools training for participants,
including use of distance learning technologies, and has
seven years teaching experience at the middle and high school
levels.

Rich Huber, Ph.D. is a
Professor in the Watson School of Education whose degree
and specialty is in Science Education. He provides leadership
in the middle grades undergraduate program and teaches science
methods courses. He has been active in grant writing and
in providing professional development for in-service teachers.
Dr. Huber is an advisor and member of the instructional
team teaching content and pedagogy for science teachers.

Catherine Nesbit, Ph.D.
is an Associate Professor in the Watson School of Education.
She teaches science methods courses for undergraduate students
and is an active leader in the North Carolina Infrastructure
for Science Education (NC-ISE) program, a state-wide effort
to aid local school systems in implementing research-based
science and mathematics with hands-on, inquiry based science.
Dr. Nesbit is an advisor and member of the instructional
team teaching science methods. She also works with the teacher
leadership and mentoring component, specifically in the
implementation of inquiry approaches.

Ron Sizemore, Ph.D. is
the Associate Director for the Center for Marine Sciences
in the College of Arts and Sciences. In this capacity he
is charged with developing learning experiences at the Center
for Marine Science and within this role has successfully
implemented numerous institutes for educators and students.
Dr. Sizemore serves as the Co-Project Director for NC Quest
and assists in the design and delivery of the science component.

Marty Sugerik, M.Ed. is
a practicing mathematics teacher who has worked extensively
with the Mathematics Department in the College of Arts and
Sciences and with the Watson School of Education. He serves
as the lead mathematics instructor in an alternative licensure
program for lateral entry teachers. Mr. Sugerik is a member
of the instructional team teaching content and pedagogy
for mathematics teachers.

Karen S. Wetherill, Ed.D.
is the Associate Dean for External Programs and Organizational
Development for the Watson School of Education. She has
extensive grant administration and investigative experience
with long and strong records of innovative teacher preparation
and leadership abilities. Dr. Wetherill serves as Co-Project
Director for this grant, and provides instructional input
and oversight for all Watson School of Education grant programs.

Patricia C. Smith, M.Ed. is NC Quest
Instructional Leader at the Watson School of Education. She manages the day-to-day
activities of the grant, and works closely with project directors,
instructional staff and other stakeholders to plan, design and implement the
various grant components. Mrs. Smith has training in health and physical education,
health curriculum and instruction, public management, as well as extensive
university administration and classroom teaching experience.
