Seaside is a film set in Cayeux, a small beach town in France. Beautiful young Marie works at a pebble processing plant. Her boyfriend, Paul, a warehouseman in winter and a lifeguard during summer, doesn't understand Marie's dreamy temperament and stifles her with his clumsy attempts at romance. The holidaymakers and people of Cayeux remind Marie that perhaps her youthful dreams can be fulfilled elsewhere. She decides that she wants to leave, and when Albert, a young colleague at the plant, gets fired, she think she may have found her Prince Charming.

WINNER OF THE CAMERA D'OR AT THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2002.

"A delicately balanced ensemble piece... [and a] bountiful first feature."--Amy Taubin, Film Comment

"Julie Lopes-Curval has vision, sensitivity, and, already, mastery." -- Les Echos
