Opportunities
Student Media Board Seeks Students-at-Large for 2008–2009

Applications are now being accepted for two student-at-large positions on UNCW’s Student Media Board, a Chancellor’s advisory board that oversees and advises three student media, The Seahawk newspaper, Atlantis magazine and Student Body Television (SBTV). The role of the student-at-large is to bring to the board the perspectives and concerns of the wider student body with regard to the operation and mission of our student media. The board seeks two students in good academic standing (2.5 GPA minimum), who are not otherwise involved in student media, to serve a voluntary one-year, renewable term through April 2009. Each student-at-large is a voting member of the Student Media Board and will be critically involved in budgetary and ethical oversight, hiring of four media managers and in other issues as they arise. The board meets on Thursday afternoons once a month in the fall semester and twice a month in the spring for a total of 13 meetings. Appointment to the board requires an application with references and an interview, but no prior experience other than an interest in the future of student-run media at UNCW. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.

Applications and information may be obtained from Bill DiNome, student media coordinator, at UU1049b (ext. 7138; e-mail: dinomew@uncwil.edu).
