Documentary Filmmaker
On June 30, 1969, Lt. Jack Hulme was killed in Vietnam, having never met his newborn son. Thirty years later, in “Unknown Soldier,” filmmaker John Hulme finally seeks out what happened to his father, and who he really was.
This highly acclaimed film was screened at numerous festivals including the local Cucalorous Film Festival. It aired on HBO on Memorial Day, May 30th, 2005.
Freelance writer and filmmaker John Hulme has for the past ten years produced numerous book, film, radio, and television-related projects. “Unknown Soldier” was his first feature-length film. Hulme has directed, co-directed and produced film shorts and music videos, which have won in festivals such as the North Carolina Film Festival and the Hamptons Film Festival. His book, Baked Potatoes, was published by Doubleday in 1996, and is a “movie guide for an altered sensibility.” He also co-edited a collection of short stories by young writers from around the country, which was also published by Doubleday in 1994.
Mr. Hulme will talk about his career, then introduce and screen “Unknown Soldier.” Afterward, there will be a question and answer session.
