The Film Studies Department offers the following:

The Frank Capra, Jr. Film Studies Scholarship

This scholarship was established in recognition of the contributions of producer, mentor, and educator Frank Capra Jr. to the Wilmington film community and the UNCW Film Studies Department. The Frank Capra, Jr. Film Studies Scholarship is a $1000 tuition remission scholarship awarded each December. The scholarship is merit based; demonstrated excellence in Film Studies and related areas is required. All application materials MUST be received in the Film Studies department office (King 102) by 5 pm, October 1, 2012.

The Sophia Grace David Film Studies Scholarship

The Sophia Grace David Film Studies Scholarship was created by Mark Griffis and Dave Robertson to honor Sophia Grace David, daughter of Ben and Stephanie. The donors hope this gift will inspire recipients to be a blessing in the lives of those whom they touch, just as she has touched her parents and so many more. The recipient must have been accepted into the Department of Film Studies, must maintain a GPA of 3.00 to be eligible for award or renewal, and will demonstrate a current personal interest and commitment to community affairs, non-profit volunteerism, and community or public service.
