The SOAR Program

To be considered for the SOAR Program, students must be admitted to UNCW as a full-time student with North Carolina residency.

Program Requirements (annually)

Admission to UNC Wilmington as a full-time, North Carolina resident student
A combined family income of less than 200% of the federal poverty level
2.5 GPA or higher
Completion of a current FAFSA
Submission of required information, such as federal tax returns

SOAR components include:
Success	Academic achievement Peer group activities Class availability
Opportunities	Networking with faculty and senior administrators Mentoring
Aid	Graduate with minimal student loan debt Receive increased scholarship awards during with increased academic achievement during the sophomore, junior and senior academic years Receive a federal work-study award for four years(Note: If a student declines a work-study award, these funds are converted to a Stafford Loan.) Have NO parent loans
Responsibilities	Participation in community service projects Successful progress towards degree completion Full-time status sufficient to graduate in four years Timely responses to communications from university personnel Active participation in bi-monthly meetings
