Master of Social Work (MSW)
Goal of Program:
Our MSW program is offers a very focused and advanced clinical practice curriculum. Students gain in-depth knowledge and practice skills from a strengths based curriculum. Students will become highly skilled in practice using solution-focused, motivational and cognitive-behavioral approaches.
Program Audience:
- While students may enter the MSW Program with an undergraduate degree in social work, this is not a requirement for entrance into graduate social work education. Applicants may apply for admission to the MSW Program with a degree earned in a variety of undergraduate disciplines, as long as they meet the admission criteria for the Program.
Program Highlights:
- Students will be able to apply this degree to working with individuals of all ages, families, and groups as well as a wide range of populations and circumstances such as crisis intervention, trauma and grief, developmental disability, severe and persistently mentally illness, addictions, and other important issues.
- Students who are interested in a truly advanced curriculum that prepares them with the knowledge and skills to engage clients appreciate this advanced and in depth curriculum.
- In addition students spend three semesters in the same field agency so that they gain expertise and have the time to engage clients in a meaningful manner throughout the change process.

| *Note: Graduates of the UNCW MSW Program qualify for State Licensure/Certification at three levels: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Master Social Worker and Certified Social Work Manager. In all of these cases, graduates must pass a state exam. | |||
