Honors Scholars Program

2009 HONORS LYCEUM

October 3-6, 2009

Washington, D.C.

Every fall, the Honors Scholars Program sponsors a lyceum learning experience- with students and faculty in honors.  This year the Fall 2009 Honors Lyceum will be in Washington DC. The lyceum is an opportunity to travel together as an  Honors community and to enrich your education away from your home campus.

This year we are staying at the Holiday Inn Capitol in the middle of everything!!  It is a block away from the Mall!

Students will participate in special tours organized by the faculty who will be going on the Lyceum, in addition to having their own free time to explore other museums, galleries, landmarks, and international cuisine with fellow honors students.

Examples of activities to choose from include:

·         Tour of the Holocaust Museum, followed by discussion

·         Bus Tour of the Monuments at Night

·         Behind the scenes at the National Gallery

·         The National Zoo

·         Tour of Arlington National Cemetery

·         Native American Museum

·         National Air and Space Museum

·         Free time to tour sights of your choice

In order to go on the trip, you must return the attached form and including a payment of $300 by September 10. You can pay by check written to UNCW, and turn it in to the honors program manager, Mr. Dean, in the Honors Office. There are a limited number of spaces on the trip, so the earlier you sign up and pay, the better! Once we are filled, we will accept additional students on a space-available basis.
