INAUGURAL
ADDRESS BY DR. GERALD SHINN, PROFESSOR EMERITUS, UNCW |
|
Bridging that
"chasm" of difference between his own age and the age of the
students he was addressing, Gerry Shinn led the way for the new Albert Schweitzer
Honors Scholars Speakers series with words gleaned from experience,
inquiry, and spiritual wisdom. In his talk, as in his life of work,
Dr. Shinn represented UNCW's motto, Discere Aude. |
       |
|
Between laughter
and reflection, university friends, former students, and current students
joined together to reflecct on the words of Dr. Shinn. |
       |
|
A reception after
the talk allowed all to discuss the lecture, catch up with Dr. Shinn, and
enjoy time with one another. The opportunity for students to interact with
Dr. Shinn, as well as other distinguished retired faculty and current
faculty and administrators, was a genuinely wonderful part of the whole
experience. |
