ITSD Announces SPAM/E-mail Changes for Jan. 2008
Starting on January 7, 2008 at 9:00 AM , Information Technology Systems Division will be changing the way the university handles SPAM. Instead of “tagging” your SPAM with “?*?” in the subject line, we will reject your SPAM messages with a notification to the sender. The sender will receive a notice that their message was considered unsolicited junk mail. We will also be more aggressive on identifying spam. If you want to allow SPAM (or specific e-mail addresses) through the filter, simply go to https://spam.uncw.edu and change your settings to whatever you choose (after 9:00 AM on January 7).
In addition to modifying the SPAM settings, any messages in your Junk Mail folder and Deleted Items folders on the server will be deleted after 7 days.
If you have any questions or need assistance, contact the Technology Assistance Center (TAC) at 962-HELP or tac@uncw.edu.

To all UNCW Faculty, Staff and Students:
This is a reminder that on Friday, August 3rd at 5 pm through Monday, August 6 at 8 am, UNCW’s core information services will be offline for routine maintenance. This will impact all systems including, but not limited to, e-mail, Banner, and VPN. The time frame was determined by all the Banner project leads and has been posted on the ITSD Web site for several months (at: http://uncw.edu/itsd/ then click on System Availability on the left).
Availability of the systems will be up and down throughout the weekend so it is suggested you refrain from using them until they have been fully restored. You may call the Technology Assistance Center (910)962-4357 for a status update. The voicemail at the TAC will be changed once everything is back up and running.
We will continue to send reminders as the date draws closer but want to give advanced warning so you can plan accordingly.
Thank you,
Information Technology Systems Division
