About Lumina Theater
Lumina Theater offers a professional movie theater experience to the UNCW community. Lumina Theater screens blockbusters, independents, cult classics, art films, international films and student films throughout the academic year, except during University holidays, breaks and summer sessions.
Lumina provides 333 stadium seats and a 16' x 30' screen. We use a Sony FH500 digital projection system for DVDs, Blu-Rays and some computer-formatted films. We offer Dolby Digital surround sound.
This film venue opened in August of 2006. The Student Government Association funded new seating and other renovations in 2013.

Sharky's Box Office & Game Room offers a wide array of movie concessions, include soda, popcorn, movie candy, and much more. We accept cash, Visa and MasterCard.
Lumina Theater is programmed by academic departments, campus offices and student organizations. In addition to showing popular films that appeal to the UNCW student body, Lumina Theater programmers often showcase films which may not otherwise reach the Wilmington and campus communities. If your student organization, university office, department or off-campus business wishes to host an event in Lumina Theater, please visit our Reservations & Film Programming page for more information.
The Association for Campus Entertainment (ACE), comprised of UNCW students, selects, promotes and hosts the weekend movies played in Lumina Theater as well as the International Cinema Series on select Thursdays. Annual ACE special events occurring in Lumina Theater include the Mini Hawk-In (12 or more hours of themed movies), the Rocky Horror Picture Show, the Moulin Rouge! Spectacular Spectacular and the Hawk-In 24-Hour Movie Marathon. If you are interested in joining ACE, apply to become a member of PIT Crew. Applications are accepted in the beginning of fall and spring semester.
