Modern Marine Science: Discovering Our Ocean
Have you ever wondered what a marine scientist does? What are they looking for in such a large body of water? From the micro world to the mega world scientists are learning more and more about how the ocean helps support life on the entire planet. MarineQuest invites you to “step into the swim fins” of a marine scientist for an exciting evening of discovery learning at the UNCW Center for Marine Science where you will:
- Learn about endangered species in our oceans while touring inside a life-size Right whale!
- Tour the Center for Marine Science and learn how technology helps modern marine scientists learn more about the ocean than ever before.
- Explore the micro world of plankton and see how their unique shapes help them survive in the “photic zone”, and then design your own plankton for an experiment!
MarineQuest's Spring Family Night will be hosted at the Center for Marine Science in celebration with the North Carolina Science Festival. For directions to the Center see out Map and Directions page.
Registration is required to attend! Due to limited space we will not be able to accept any walk-ups or add on on the day of the program.
