Description: Course which deals with writing for the small jazz ensemble. Arranging and compositional techniques will be explored which will ultimately lead to the performance of the students own arrangements

 

Objectives:

 

1. To gain a basic understanding of jazz arranging and composition through analysis of contemporary jazz writers

 

2.  To compose two arrangements for small group

 

Attendance: Students are required to be present at all regular class meetings and exams.

More than three unexcused absence will result in a substantial drop in your final grade.
