Cornerstone Student Awards

The Cornerstone Student Awards allow us to

  • demonstrate our value of the celebration of integrity, growth & development of UNCW students
  • attain our goal of celebrating the integrity, growth, and accomplishments of UNCW students and their commitment to lifelong learning, engagement, leadership and service
  • enhance our students' sense of accomplishment through the celebration of their own and others’ learning and development

Please note: Notifications to Cornerstone Award recipients or finalists went out on March 13, 2014. Regardless of whether or not you received that notification, know that UNCW values your contributions to campus and the Wilmington community!

Submit a Nomination

  • Review the award criteria and identify which award(s) the student best fits. Each nomination will require a separate entry in the system.
  • The nomination process requires that you have the student's name and UNCW e-mail address. You will also be required to submit a letter of recommendation.  Please provide specific examples of a student’s leadership, service, and experiences in your nomination that connect with the criteria for the award.
  • Please proofread your nomination, as we may pull information and statements that will be used in celebrating the recipients’ accomplishments.  We want to be able to cite you accurately at a banquet verbally or in print.
  • Submit your nomination. Please note, the nomination process is now closed.
  • Upon conclusion of the nomination period, each student nominated for an award will receive an e-mail congratulating them on their nomination and it will provide them with instructions for accepting the nomination.

For Students: Accepting a Nomination

Review the criteria for the award(s) for which you have been nominated. The online acceptance will require you to provide the following information:

For assistance with your resume, please contact the Career Center at (910) 962-3174, or visit them during express hours in 2035 Fisher University Union.

    2. A biography which narrates your experiences here at UNCW. Need help? View our sample biography

    3. An essay answering questions that will require you to critically reflect upon your experiences during your time here at UNCW.  The questions that must be answered are different for each award. The maximum total word count for the essay is 1000.

View the list of questions for each award. Only answer the questions for the award for which you have been nominated. If you are nominated for multiple awards, you will need to do a different essay for each one.
